Thorsby High School is a K-12 educational institution located in the Town of Thorsby and has been a public school since 1957. The school originated as Thorsby Institute shortly after the town was founded in the early 1900's. Thorsby Institute was founded as a private school and was turned over to the Chilton County Board of Education to become a part of the public school system in 1957. Thorsby Institute provided a quality education for many years to local and out of state students. Thorsby High School continues to provide students with an excellent education while being a member of the Chilton County Public School System.
Thorsby High School is a wonderful school with a great faculty and student body. I am very proud of their accomplishments each year. Please feel free to browse our site and familiarize yourself with the opportunities that our school provides.

The Thorsby High School Office will be closed on July 4, 2014. Summer Office Hours Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. 1:45-3:00 p.m. Report Cards will be available for pick up in the school office on May 28th! New Student Registration: August 5th and 6th 8:00-11:30 a.m. 1:00-2:30 p.m. Locker Rentals for 2014-15 School Year Cost $10 Seniors-August 6th from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Juniors-August 6th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sophomores-August 7th from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Freshmen-August 7th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. 8th grade-August 8th from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. 7th grade-August 8th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Fun Day at the Special Olympics!
Congratulations to C. Fortner. He was invited by Duke TIP to take the ACT for scoring at or above the 95th percentile on a grade level achievement test. He took the ACT at Chilton County High School in December along with many juniors and seniors from the county. He was honored in a ceremony hosted at the University of Alabama on May 5th for his excellent academic performance on the ACT. He scored at or better than 80% of all high school juniors and seniors throughout the United States who took the college entrance exam. Along with state recognition, he has also been invited to Duke University and to the University of Southern Mississippi this summer to participate in summer studies programs for academically talented youth.

FFA State Champions!
J. Posey, C. Lucas, A. Bolding and C. Littleton win FFA Meat Evaluation Team State Championship! The Thorsby High School FFA Meats Evaluation and Technology Team competed at the State FFA Contest in Auburn on June 3rd. The team placed 1st overall and will go on to represent Alabama at the National FFA Contest held in Louisville, Kentucky in October. C. Littleton was the highest scoring individual in the state. Team members are required to identify by species retail and wholesale cuts of meat, cooking method of meats, quality grade and yield grade carcasses, place cuts of meat, formulate correct batches of hamburger, problem solve and pass a written exam. The team will be working hard all summer in hopes of bringing home a National Championship to Thorsby. Team members from left to right are J. Posey, C. Lucas, A. Bolding and C. Littleton. C. Thorsby High School Beta Club holds "Pet Supply Drive" to benefit the Chilton County Humane Society! Thank you to all parents and students for donations! A pick up truck load of supplies were donated! Pictured are Beta Club Sponsor Mrs. Onchuck and the students that loaded the supplies for the Humane Society!
